Introducing The Joy Project

As I always talk about, clothes can bring utter joy. However, to some this can be an overwhelming and rejectable concept. So I’ve been thinking about The Joy Project; the concept of stealthily introducing joy to your wardrobe, one item at a time. and then letting it SUFFUSE the rest of your outfits.

I find socks are an easy place to start. Everyone probably has a pair of ‘jazzy socks’ somewhere but if not, they’re relatively inexpensive to procure. It’s satisfying to see a little glimmer of a jaunty sock at the end of your leg. It might make you smile. It might encourage you to see what else you can add to get the same effect. A joy addiction if you like. Accessories are another way in and a decent place to start with colour, or different textures, or a combination of what might be considered ill-matching occasion-wear. So a ‘formal’ item- a silk scarf - with a casual t-shirt or a fancy brooch on denim. I love mixing things up and confounding expectations around what should go with what. It can be addictive, really.

Try it and see. January can be a little challenging so how about a joy experiment? If you get stuck, let me know, I’m always here to help.
